CD REVIEW: 5,000,000* – AUTO SOUND & SECURITY MAGAZINE

Five Million* (Tortelvis Fans Can’t Be Wrong) Review, 1991

BOTTOM LINE: Dread’s second album surpasses the first by a country mile! This is a must-have recording for anyone who likes Zeppelin, reggae, or Elvis (or the combination thereof).

Just when you thought that it was safe to open a jewel box, Dread Zeppelin strikes back with their second release. The first time you listen to this disc, you can’t help but laugh. I mean, be serious. Mixing reggae, Zeppelin, and an Elvis impersonator together…if that isn’t funny, I don’t know what is. But once you get past the initial impact of “5,000,000*” there is some really good music.

Dread Zeppelin started out as a local LA band that got of the strongest cult followings since the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The rest, as they say, is history. This disc has just about everything you could want. Of course, the Zep covers are the shining stars of the set, and are really catchy. I would love to get the reactions of the original members of Led Zeppelin when they hear Dread’s “Stairway to Heaven”. Go out and get this one, it’s bound to be a classic. Dread Zeppelin’s “5,000,000*” only leaves you wondering…

What in the heck will these guys do next?
