Your Time Is Gonna Come
IRS Video 1990
My favorite cut from Un Led ED became our second single and part two of the Dread Zeppelin video trilogy that told the story of the creation of the band.
“In Our Last Episode…” the vid begins, Tortelvis, having been transformed into a mutated version of The King following a tragic Ford Pinto/Milk Truck collision, finds himself in a heavenly place. The soundtrack is pipe organ (is that Helen Dell at the keys?), it’s all white and fluffy and big, giant burgers are served there. The trouble begins with the arrival of Ed Zeppelin (doesn’t it always?) who tries to bring Tortelvis back to Earth.
Indeed, the rest of the band have sought the council of a swami/fortune teller who reveals all – yet tells very little. Soon, they are whisked away to the heavenly place, charged with returning the pompadoured butterball back to Graceland West.
Best scene is Tortelvis manservant, Charlie Haj, counting out on his fingers how many members of the band had their time come.
Cameos by Putt-Mon’s parents playing the dancing couple, Rasta Li-Mon as Heaven’s bouncer and DZ road manager, Alan Grange, as “The Devil.”
A misguided tribute to Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav completes the demented event.
At the end of the day, a good time was had by all!
